Fernando Alonso returns on Tuesday for the first time in two years in a Formula 1 car. The Spaniard is looking forward to his first few metres in the R.S. 20 and may do so on a circuit that is very familiar to him: the Circuit de Catalunya.

In 2021 Alonso returns to F1 after two years of absence. The Spaniard decided to quit Formula 1 at the end of 2018 and then participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indy 500 and even the Dakar Rally. Now Alonso is ready for his adventure in Formula 1 again and will make his laps on the circuit of Catalunya.

Alonso back in Formula 1

''It will be a great feeling to get behind the wheel again. I haven't been in a car like that for two years now and I'm really looking forward to it. I want to be surprised again by the speed of the car and the point at which you can brake. It's also very special to be back in Barcelona and to be able to race one more time under the name Renault'', Alonso indicates the name change from 2021. That's when Renault becomes Alpine.

''It was difficult to prepare for this test. Because of the corona virus, the rules are a bit stricter and I couldn't sit much in the simulator. However, I know I can learn a lot from this day of filming and I am totally open to it'', says Alonso in a video from Renault.
