No name change Formula 1 team Mercedes
- GPblog.com
At an investor and analyst conference last week, Mercedes announced its new business strategy, which showed that Mercedes will continue to be involved in Formula 1. The German car brand also announced that there would be a greater focus on sub-brand AMG.
No rebranding of the Formula 1 team
Mercedes' announcements suggested that the Formula 1 team would be given a name change, just as Renault will be doing from next year with their sports car brand Alpine. Nothing could be further from the truth, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff announced on Racefans.net. There will be no rebranding of the team. "The new strategy we are pursuing is to give the sub-brands a larger marketing platform. And it's AMG, it's EQ, it's Maybach. I think it's good that each of those brands gets a specific touch".
Mercedes stays in Formula 1
So there is no need to worry that the name Mercedes will disappear from Formula 1. In any case, not in the short term. "On the contrary, it will always be a Mercedes. The chassis will always be a Mercedes, the team name will always be a Mercedes and we are all Mercedes people", Wolff reassures us. However, the visibility of AMG within Formula 1 will be increased and the already existing technology transfer between AMG and the Mercedes Formula 1 team will be made more visible.
