Bottas: "Of course I have to believe that"

With his DNF at the Eifel Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas suffered a lot of damage in the World Championship standings. However, he has not lost all hope. In fact, he is convinced that he, in his best form, is a better driver than teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Bottas is confident
Bottas' gap to Hamilton was already quite big, but last Sunday's result added another 25 points. Bottas doesn't seem to have lost any self-confidence because of this. When asked if he thinks he is a better driver than his teammate, he explained how he has to believe that he is as good if not better.
"Of course I have to believe that," he told Sky F1. "I believe that when I'm at my best, I know I can be better than him. But of course there are days when he's better, and in the last few years he's usually been better."
Bottas is also satisfied with his results. "I am quite satisfied with my performance, especially compared to the last few years. Especially my racing pace is very good, so I think the performance is good. It's mainly about small things, getting the details right and making sure things go the way I want them to go," said a mostly positive Valtteri Bottas.
