Kubica has great memories of Verstappen's maiden win

The memory of Max Verstappen's victory at the Barcelona circuit in 2016 still makes many Dutch fans feel warm. However, they are not alone in that, because Robert Kubica also gets emotional when it comes to this victory.
Max Verstappen was one of the best drivers in karting for many years and was also able to make a direct impression in Formula cars. Helmut Marko saw this and brought the Dutchman to Toro Rosso. One year and four races later, Verstappen even got the chance at Red Bull Racing and performed the impossible by winning on his debut for the team.
Kubica away from Verstappen
''I knew his name because of his successes in karting, but few people realise what Verstappen has achieved. He has reached a mature level so quickly. The way he drove his first race and kept Kimi Raikkonen behind him," Kubica tells Formule1.nl.
The former Formula 1 driver has a beautiful memory of that day. ''That was an emotional moment and I myself am surprised to have those feelings. There were so-called experts criticising his driving style, but he did it perfectly. He took more risks and did it well. Wonderful," concludes the Pole.
