Renault scores more points than Red Bull Racing in the last races

Renault has achieved quite a milestone with its first podium since its return to Formula 1. Daniel Ricciardo was able to reach the podium due to the failure of Valtteri Bottas in Germany and that gives Renault hope.
Renault scores better than Red Bull Racing
In 2016, Renault returned as a Formula 1 factory team after an absence since 2012. At that time, the goal was already set to return to the podiums, victories and even the world title. The latter is still a long way off, but in the meantime Renault is no longer afraid of anyone, says Renault CEO Alan Permane to Racefans.net.
''I don't think we need to be scared anymore to go to certain circuits. If you look from the Belgian Grand Prix onwards, we scored very well in those races. Someone even said to me before the race that after Mercedes we scored the most points in the last four or five races," says Permane.
The tension is increasing
The latter is true and can even be said after the Eifel Grand Prix. In the last five races (starting from the Belgian GP) Renault has scored 78 points, two points more than the 76 of Red Bull Racing. A good step from Renault, which is still on the hunt for third place among the constructors.
"It's very close together, but I think we are in good shape at the moment. I think we're faster than Racing Point and McLaren in qualifying and the race, but it's not going to be easy to keep the lead," concludes Permane. Renault is currently fifth with 114 points. They are right behind McLaren that has 116 points and Racing Point is still close by with 120 points.
