Wolff: "Future talks progressing faster than Brexit"
- GPblog.com
There have been rumours about the future of Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff for a long time. Is he going to Aston Martin? Will he stay with Mercedes, but in a different position? Or will he do something completely different? Nothing is certain yet, but he's working on it, according to Wolff himself.
Wolff's future
There has even been some talk that Wolff would replace Chase Carey as Formula 1 boss, but now that it is clear that this position will go to former Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali. Wolff himself indicates that he still feels comfortable with Mercedes.
"I am happy where I am. Ferrari has the veto right, in the new Concorde agreement as well, but that doesn't make any difference to me. I would have stayed where I am anyway. We just have to accept this", Wolff explains to various media.
Faster negotiations than Brexit
So how are discussions about his future at Mercedes progressing? "It's going well. We're making more progress than the Brexit discussions", he jokes. "We don't have time to sit around the table extensively, but negotiations are taking place in the background. Daimler and I would like to continue our collaboration. But it's not that simple, because shares also play a role", says Wolff.
So, for the time being, nothing is certain about Toto Wolff's plans after 2020. Apart from Wolff, Lewis Hamilton is yet to sign a contract for next season as well.
