"He has failed to win the title with Ferrari, but not as a driver"

Sebastian Vettel will bid farewell to Scuderia Ferrari in 2020. After a failed campaign with the Italian race team, he will try again at Aston Martin. The German has received a lot of criticism about his form at Ferrari, but Guenther Steiner thinks differently.
Vettel has not failed as a driver
In 2021, Vettel will join Aston Martin following their name change from Racing Point at the end of this season.
According to Haas F1 chief Steiner, Vettel shouldn't blame himself too much. The team boss said to AvD Motorsport Magazin on German TV: "As long as you give everything, I don't think you have failed. He has failed to win the title with Ferrari, but not as a driver."
Vettel is too hard on himself
Steiner continued: "F1 is a team sport, so he doesn't have to be so hard on himself. He has won four world titles and in F1 you have to be in the right place at the right time."
Steiner admitted that this is not the first time a driver has not had the opportunity to show his maximum potential in F1: "We can also see this with other talented drivers who have not had the means to use their full potential in their racing careers."
