Horner: 'Never seen anyone as hungry for success as Verstappen'

From his first race at Red Bull Racing, Max Verstappen made a huge impression by winning the Grand Prix right away in Spain. Since then he has become a true leader of the team, as a result of which several teammates have already been and gone at Red Bull. Daniel Ricciardo and Pierre Gasly have already left and Alexander Albon seems to be on borrowed time already According to Christian Horner Verstappen has something special, which not many drivers have.
Horner thinks that a driver's mentality is enormously important. "I think it is more or less the same in every sport. Everyone has a natural gift and in the end it's up to you to get the most out of it, like the preparations they do behind the scenes. When you finally get to the point where you have to perform, like that last set in qualifying or the start of a race," Horner explains to the BBC.
Special Verstappen
"Some people are not coping well with that pressure. They perform tremendously well during practice, but when it really comes down to it, they are disappointing. You see the drivers who stand out because of that and the drivers who fall because of that. You also have to be brave and have a lot of confidence in your own abilities." These are qualities that the Red Bull team boss sees in Verstappen.
"Of course it's also important that you want to do it yourself and that's what's so interesting about Verstappen. He is still very young but already has that hunger and longing for success. We have worked with a number of great drivers such as Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber and what we have in common is that they are all hungry for success. However, I don't think I've seen anyone as hungry for success as Verstappen," concludes Horner.
