Tsunoda gets closer and closer to the F1 seat: 'Maybe he'll do a FP1 once'

At Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri there is still a lot of uncertainty about the choice of driver for 2021. One driver who seems to have an ever-increasing chance of getting a seat with Red Bull's sister team is Japanese star Yuki Tsunoda. There is even a chance that he will be in the car during a GP weekend this year.
"Maybe, but this is not decided yet, he will do FP1 once," says team boss Franz Tost to The Race. But that won't be the first time that Tsunoda is in the AlphaTauri. "The programme with Yuki is the following: we had him in the factory last week to make his seat, because after the race in Imola we will do a 300 kilometre test."
Tsunoda will ride several more times this season
After a possible free practice, Tsunoda will drive a couple of Formula 2 races and at the end of the year he will be entering the 'young driver test' in Abu Dhabi. So Red Bull is investing a lot of time and money in the Honda junior to see how good he is.
So although the prospects for Daniil Kvyat don't look great, Tost stresses that nothing has been decided yet. "Then it's up to Red Bull to decide what drivers race for AlphaTauri in 2021."
