How long will Albon get? "I would say until the beginning of December"
Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko points out once again that time for Alexander Albon is running out. The British-Thai did not perform well on Sunday in Portugal and only finished twelfth. To make matters worse, he was also lapped by teammate Max Verstappen.
Albon in the midfield
The German RTL itself says that as long as Red Bull don't name a second driver, Albon will be the centre of attention. The voices are increasingly critical of the performance of the 24-year-old driver and the team is also increasingly saying that they are looking around for possible replacements.
Marko reminds RTL of what he said earlier to the German branch of Sky: “It is no secret that Alex needs more consistency. He is sometimes at a respectable distance from Max. Sometimes it is too much." Albon has not yet out-qualified Verstappen and hasn't been able to finish ahead of Verstappen in races that they both completed.
Few opportunities left
Despite everything, Marko repeatedly says that if Albon continues to develop positively, he will be the man for Red Bull in 2021. “We are not in a hurry,” said Marko. Still, time is running out for Albon. Marko gives an estimate of how much time Albon has left: “I would say until the beginning of December. Roughly two or three races. ”
