Tsunoda wants to be better than Verstappen: 'That is my greatest strength'

Yuki Tsunoda is on the list to become a driver at AlphaTauri in 2021. Despite the announced departure of Honda, the Japanese star still has every confidence in a seat with the Red Bull family.
Tsunoda wants to go to F1
Tsunoda is driving in Formula 2 and is doing well there, sitting in third place in the championship. He was backed by Honda to Formula 1, but with the imminent departure of the Japanese manufacturer Tsunoda seemed to be in trouble. However, he himself sees this differently.
''No, that situation has not changed at all. If that had been the case, Helmut Marko would never have included me in the Red Bull programme,'' says Tsunoda to Auto Sport Web. Tsunoda is confident and convinced that he will force his way into Formula 1 based on his qualities and pace.
Faster than Verstappen
''I think I am very good at braking, but my greatest strength is that I learn a lot and quickly from other drivers. When I'm less than another driver, I watch what he does and try to learn a lot from that in order to become better myself. I am not the fastest in the world right now, because I still have Max Verstappen above me, but in the end I also want to overtake Verstappen and be the best in the world," says the Red Bull protégé.
Yet it remains to be seen whether the ambitious driver will drive in Formula 1 in 2021. With the increasing rumours about the replacement of Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly, who will stay with AlphaTauri, it remains to be seen whether there will be room for Red Bull's sister team. Should Albon or Gasly make way for Tsunoda?
