Among fans and drivers, the Imola circuit is making a beloved comeback this season. Not only does the track have a lot of history and a picturesque appearance, it is also a challenge for the drivers. Lewis Hamilton however thinks we will only enjoy this during qualifying.

Hamilton explains that a fast lap on Imola is "unbelievable". At the same time, he does not think that the circuit will deliver a good race tomorrow. "It is all very close together. It will be very difficult to overtake other drivers", is the prediction of the world champion after the free practice according to Motorsport-Total.com.

Imola's reputation seems to be preserved

This prediction will not come as a surprise to most insiders. When Imola was still fixed on the calendar, one of the biggest criticisms was the lack of overtaking. For example, in 2005 and 2006 Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher both drove close to the finish line without any overtaking.

In the meantime, the circuit has changed somewhat. The removal of the chicane on the straight should allow the Tamburello to overtake and DRS is something Alonso and Schumacher did not have access to at the time. Nevertheless, Hamilton thinks it will be a difficult story.
