In 2021 we are expected to have 23 races on the Formula 1 calendar, with the most recent addition, the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. However, there are concerns that this might be too many.

Liberty Media have indicated from day one that it wants to expand the F1 calendar. The goal is 25 races and in 2021 it will move a step closer with 23 races. According to Christian Horner it will be a lot. Not necessarily for the drivers, but mainly for the mechanics who are busy day and night on the track.

Too many races

"It's a big job. 23 races is quite a lot for the drivers, but especially for the mechanics. They travel all over the world in less favorite conditions than the others. When they are 23 weeks away from home, it is almost necessary to have a second team," said the Brit according to The Race.

According to Horner, two-day race weekends are already a good solution. "That could be quite interesting, especially when you consider that the calendar is getting very full. We just have to see it and be open to the possibilities."
