These are hard times for Alexander Albon in his life as a Formula 1 driver. Since his podium place at the Tuscany Grand Prix, he only gained one point. His position for next season is therefore under a lot of pressure.

Although Albon acknowledges that the last few races have not produced the desired results, he wants to put those results into perspective. At the press conference preceding the Turkish GP, he told Formule1.nl among others that he thinks he can do well here.

Albon does not want to end up in a train

"Mugello was the last race with a good result for me, but it hasn't been that bad since. I lose some time at the start, and as soon as you end up in a train, you get a little stuck. Here in Turkey, you can overtake well, although of course I also want to qualify better and have a trouble-free race."

Qualifying does indeed seem to be crucial. The race at Mugello, where he finished on the podium, was also the last time the Thai managed to qualify right behind Verstappen. In the following races, there were drivers like Charles Leclerc, Daniel Ricciardo and Pierre Gasly between them.
