Vettel relieved after first podium in 2020: "First lap has helped a lot"

Sebastian Vettel lookedlike he was going to get a fourth place finish in the Turkish Grand Prix. However, everything changed in the last three corners, as his teammate Charles Leclerc out braked himself in the final sector. As a result, he was able to go to P3 and in the last corner he had almost taken Sergio Perez as well.
"The last races didn't go well," explains Vettel in front of Ziggo Sport's camera. In Turkey, however, he managed to find the rhythm and therefore drove from fourth to third place in the final lap. "The last three turns were really good. It's a shame that I had trouble finding grip in the last corner, but it has been an intense race."
Drivers make the difference
Ferrari's German was on the podium for the first time in 2020 and this will be the first time since Mexico in 2019. "That is almost a year ago. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss it. I looked at the trophies today and I thought to myself: 'they look good, so that's worth a try'. I didn't really care about all the other trophies this year," jokes Vettel.
"It's a nice trophy, but it was hard to get it. Things like this can happen in these circumstances and then you can make more of a difference yourself. I had a good first lap and fortunately, I stayed there throughout the race. Our speed in the race also helped enormously," Vettel concluded.
