With the season now coming to an end, the eyes are on 2021, which is expected to be a normal season again. Mercedes has already won the constructors' and drivers' title and Red Bull Racing has almost finished second among the constructors. Furthermore it looks like Verstappen will be third behind Hamilton and Bottas, giving the team room to experiment more. This is what they did during the last Grand Prix.

Red Bull is not done yet

In Turkey, Red Bull Racing's RB16 drove around with two small updates on the nose and rear, which according to technical specialist Mark Hughes shows that Red Bull Racing is not leaning back until the end of the season. With cars that will be largely the same in 2021, it is important for the team to close the gap to Mercedes, otherwise it will be almost a done championship.

"Two small detail changes on the Red Bull at Istanbul suggest that even at this late stage of the season, the team is still working flat out in trying to unlock the full potential of its highly sophisticated, but sometimes difficult, RB16 design," writes Hughes in his analysis on Formula1.com.

Closing the gap with Mercedes?

In response, Red Bull has also made absolutely minimal adjustments to the rear of the car, in order to be able to route the modified airflow properly. In this way Red Bull is looking for extra ways to control the car just a little bit better, but the poor conditions in Turkey may not have led to optimal results. So it remains to be seen whether adjustments will be made before the next Grand Prix or if Red Bull will use it again.

In any case, the team is working hard to get more out of the car for next year. Honda has also contributed to this and they have already planned to come up with a better engine.
