Fernando Alonso will be back on the F1 grid next year. After an absence of two years, the Spaniard will return for Alpine, the current Renault team.
Real personalities
With this, not only a double world champion but above all a strong personality returns to Formula 1. Especially the latter is something Formula 1 needs, says former team boss Flavio Briatore. "The contrast with the current generation of drivers is huge. A lot has changed since I was involved in Formula 1. There were many more real personalities with a strong fighting mentality," said Briatore to the Spanish Antena 3.
Briatore believes that the drivers today are not the same as they used to be. "You hardly recognise them anymore when they are not wearing their overalls. Nowadays everything is also much more organised and neater."
Family
Briatore worked with Alonso at Renault from 2003 to 2006, where the Spaniard also achieved his greatest successes; world champion in 2005 and 2006. "I am very happy that he is coming back. I really consider him as a family."
