This weekend the first of two Grands Prix in Bahrain is on the calendar and Charles Leclerc is expecting a difficult weekend. According to the Ferrari driver, the situation on the Bahrain International Circuit is changing all the time.
Various factors in play
"The Bahrain Grand Prix is quite unusual in that, because of various factors, the situation changes continuously over the course of the weekend. In the first sessions, the track is very dirty from all the sand that blows across its desert location," said Leclerc in a preview for Ferrari.
"Bit by bit as the track cleans up, its abrasive nature gives the tires a hard time," Leclerc continued.
Looking back to 2019
Last year Leclerc had a very frustrating race in Bahrain. After securing his first F1 pole position on the Saturday, it seemed for a long time that he would be allowed to go to the podium as the winner on Sunday. Due to the failure of his Ferrari engine, however it became a the bottom step of the podium.
"I've got good memories of last year, even if it didn't end as well as it could have done. I hope we can continue the trend of the last few races in which we've been more and more competitive," concluded the 23-year-old driver.
