Horner: Perez is doing the best job he can so he remains under consideration"
Alexander Albon recorded his second F1 career podium during Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix. He was running in fourth for much of the race but moved up after Perez was unlucky with a blown engine. Christian Horner nevertheless thinks that the British-Thai did a good job. Although he still leaves Perez as an option.
"I think today has been a very good day for Alex," Horner said in the Red Bull Racing press session. Sergio was unlucky. Alex benefited from his misfortune. I think that's what we are needing to see from Alex. I think his recovery from Friday was strong, qualified fourth and was there to capitalise on Sergio's misfortune."
Perez also shows good things
A good day perhaps, but the question that is on everyone's mind is whether it is good enough to keep his seat at Red Bull Racing. Horner does not want to give a definite answer about that, but he does show that Albon is not the only driver who has done a good job today.
"No decision will be made until after the final race. We're giving him every chance, we want him to succeed. Days like today help him but there's still two races. Sergio is doing the best job he can so he remains under consideration. Today was Alex's good fortune, he had a good day today and there's still two further races to go," said Horner.
