Through Lewis Hamilton's positive coronavirus test, George Russell gets the ultimate chance to prove himself in the best car in the field. The driver who has never scored any points to date could therefore achieve his first points this weekend.

In any case, his contemporaries Charles leclerc and Lando Norris are convinced that he is capable of this. The gentlemen raced each other in karts and have known each other since childhood. Russell was also Leclerc's successor as a Formula 2 champion.

Leclerc would bet on him

"For me a podium at least, but I have some hope of a win,” Leclerc said as quoted by Motorsport.com about Russell's chances. "I mean it's very optimistic, but I know he's very good. I know that he's very good and I could bet on a win.”

"I think he can achieve a pole, I think he can achieve a win,” Norris added, although he was a bit more coutious. "If there's any weekend maybe Mercedes have a smaller advantage than any other weekend, it's probably here. So he's taken a step up into the team at probably one of the toughest weekends of the year in terms of their advantage that they probably have over the rest of the field."
