W Series presents calendar: Eight races with Zandvoort and Silverstone
- GPblog.com
The W Series has announced the calendar for 2021. The series for female drivers only will drive in the support program of Formula 1 and has now announced which races that will be. Zandvoort is also on the calendar.
The W Series began an ambitious project in 2019 to give women an extra chance in motorsport. The W Series is a series only for female drivers with cars that are all equal. The first season was a duel between the British Jamie Chadwick and the Dutch Beitske Visser.
W Series to Zandvoort
The first edition was won by Chadwick, but in 2021 Visser can prepare for revenge. Then the women will drive as the support act for Formula 1 and the locations for this have been announced. Zandvoort will miss out on Formula 3 next season, but the W Series will come to the circuit in the dunes.
The calendar will feature the race in France on 26 June, followed by Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, America and Mexico. In other words, a calendar of no less than eight races, making the series a lot longer for women than in 2019, when the calendar only went to six locations.
