In his weekly conversation with the Formula 1 café, Max Verstappen did not mince his words, as he characteristically never does. This time the Dutchman focuses on the decisions of his team around testing the material to be used in 2021. And he does this, as always, with the necessary Dutch honesty

Max Verstappen is clearly annoyed about having had to test the 2021 Red Bull Racing materials during today's first two free practice sessions. In a conversation with Formula 1 café, he commented: "They always say: 'No, he needs to get into his rhythm'. I say: 'Get out of here, man! Now I want to start the training properly for once.'"

Verstappen would clearly like his team mate to be appointed to test the future parts of the Red Bull. The team may have seen this off for several reasons. Albon's data can be considered less valuable by Christian Horner and Helmut Marko due to his lack of top speed. It may also have to do with the uncertain future of Albon as a racer for Red Bull.

Enough to test

Not only were the two free practice sessions used by Red Bull to test the new parts, but all drivers were required to complete a number of timed laps on the prototype medium tyre supplied by Pirelli. This also scraped off the necessary time from the two training sessions.
