Will Verstappen participate? 'Let's hope there really is a championship fight'

Max Verstappen's victory in Abu Dhabi immediately raised expectations for 2021. However, according to Robert Doornbos not too much should be expected from Red Bull Racing in 2021.
Since Formula 1 cars will not change much from 2020 to 2021, there is some reason to believe that the victory of Verstappen in Abu Dhabi is a good signal. If you can win this year's last race, why not next year's? However, Doornbos also points out some pain points for the Austrian team.
Can Red Bull Racing still overtake Mercedes?
''Sixty per cent of the car will go with us to next season, but Red Bull has discovered this season where the weak point is and that is in aerodynamics, where they have been so strong in recent years. However, the RB16 will go with us to 2021 and will only get a new look in the hope of closing the gap to Mercedes," says the former Formula 1 driver in his column.
The Ziggo Sports analyst also knows what Mercedes has been doing for years. ''Don't think that Mercedes is sitting still, because they have been working on the car for 2021 for six months. We have to hope that Red Bull will have a good winter and with the winter tests, you can tell from Max's head whether the car is top or flop, just like every winter. Let's hope that in 2021 there really is a championship fight between Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen," concludes Doornbos.
