Just before the last Grand Prix of the 2020 season, Ferrari announced the departure of CEO Louis Camilleri 'for personal reasons'. This came as quite a surprise to the manufacturer.

Under his leadership, Ferrari wanted to market themselves more generally as a 'luxury brand'. The focus will therefore be more on accessories, entertainment and other luxury products and services. In this way, Ferrari hopes to make more money than with Formula 1 and expensive sports cars alone.

This transition will also be reflected in the car fleet. Indeed, Ferrari is about to launch a few hybrid cars and their very first SUV. An unfortunate moment, therefore, to lose the man who largely set this in motion.

New Ferrari CEO does not need automotive background

That the new CEO, like Camilleri, maybe someone outside Ferrari, FIAT or even the automotive world, therefore seems a realistic possibility. Immediately after the announcement of Camilleri's departure, Luca di Montezemolo and the current CEO of FIAT were mentioned, there are now some names going around from outside.

According to Reuters, there are already rumours that the person of Vittoria Colao, the current CEO of Vodafone, and in Italian media, the names of Luca Maestri and Jonathan Paul are going around. Both are currently active in the management of Apple.
