McLaren happy with the arrival of Mercedes: 'Hear nothing but positive things'

Next year McLaren is going to switch from Renault engines to Mercedes engines and with this step the team hopes to make the step towards the top three. Daniel Ricciardo will also join the team. Team boss Zak Brown expects McLaren to remain independent and not become a second team of Mercedes.
While Red Bull Racing has AlphaTauri and Ferrari is strengthening ties with Haas, Mercedes does not have a team where they can place their juniors or strengthen their team members. According to Brown, McLaren is not going to serve that either. "It's just a customer relationship. The team is really looking forward to working with Mercedes," Brown explains to Motorsport-Total.com.
What can McLaren do in 2021?
Brown understands that the relationship with Mercedes can last for a long time to come. "There are many people on both sides who have worked together to win championships and races. So there are many similarities. Everything I've heard so far shows how well prepared Mercedes is to work with their customers. Their communication, their timing is just a big well-oiled machine."
Team members at McLaren are also pleased with the arrival of Mercedes and Brown expects the arrival of the new engine to encourage the team to work harder. "I'm only getting feedback from the technical team that the cooperation is going well and smoothly and that they are extremely happy. As we design the car, we communicate a lot. And everything I hear is positive so far," concludes Brown.
