Vettel reflects on Grosjean's miracle escape

Sebastian Vettel had a dramatic season with few highlights. One moment, however, jumped out for the German who will move from Ferrari to Aston Martin next season.
The Grosjean crash
In his guest column on Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Vettel spoke about Romain Grosjean's terrible accident: "How he managed to survive this crash almost unharmed is still a mystery to me. That he is still with us, that he is still alive, is, therefore, for me, the time of year.
"What have I become aware of? If you look at the accident, you can see that Romain was extraordinarily lucky," continued Vettel. According to the driver from Heppenheim, the accident would have had a much worse outcome a few years ago.
"Everyone must be aware that the speed at which we drive will always be a risk. The accident should never be seen as proof of car safety," concluded Vettel, who mentioned Lewis Hamilton's seventh world title as the sporting highlight of the year.
