'Leclerc's biggest disappointment of 2020, he still has a long way to go'

One of the major setbacks of 2020 was, of course, the Ferrari team. Sebastian Vettel, in particular, was absolutely not involved. Although Charles Leclerc was still far ahead, especially during qualifying, Jan Lammers also finds his performance this year disappointing.
"A negative surprise, I find a very heavy stamp, but the name Leclerc pops up in my mind", says Lammers in an interview with Motorsport.com. "He has had his moments, but Max [Verstappen] shows that he is always on top of things. If you compare that performance to someone like Leclerc, who was suggested to be just as good, then Leclerc still has a long way to go".
Vettel came close when he tried
In Leclerc's view, Leclerc must therefore, above all, perform much more consistently. According to him, the fact that he was structurally faster than Vettel is not a good indicator of this. The German would have given up halfway through the season.
"He has made a lot of mistakes this year. He has missed out on a lot of points. At a certain point you could see that Vettel was little a bit done with Ferrari, so he just finished his contract. I think that Carlos Sainz can look very good next to Leclerc. Leclerc does not underestimate that, he really knows he needs go to work".
