Yuki Tsunoda can try his luck in Formula 1 next year, as Pierre Gasly's teammate at AlphaTauri. Technical director of the team, Jody Eggington argues to be hopeful about the talents of the young driver, and Helmut Marko is also satisfied with his protégé.
Eggington, speaking to Motorsport-Total.com, said Tsunoda has what it takes to become the next star at Red Bull. "He's fast and he gives good feedback. He's already proven he has what it takes and is a quick learner”, Eggington said.
The technical director is also wary of possible start-up problems early in the season, due to the different driving styles demanded by Formula 1 and Formula 2. Especially in terms of tyre management Eggington predicts a learning curve for Tsunoda: "Formula 2 is good training there, but it's not exactly the same."
Marko also convinced
Helmut Marko, Red Bull's top man and discoverer of many a racing talent, is also convinced of Tsunoda's qualities. He explains: "I love him! His speed. The way he overtakes. But also how quickly he learns to use the tires. … Yuki is not only extremely fast and talented, he is also very funny and easy-going.”
