Sergio Perez, in his first interviews as a Red Bull Racing driver, is grateful to have been given this opportunity so late in his career. However, this does not mean that his career is perfect, as he will do everything possible to make the most of this opportunity.
"Well, not just once," Perez says when asked in the Talking Bull Podcast if we're going to hear the Mexican national anthem anytime soon. "I'm sure we're going to hear the Mexican national anthem many times. We have a unique opportunity to do that and I am working very hard to make it happen. I'm really looking forward to it."
Perez wants to take Formula 1 to Long Beach
"I can't wait for the season to start. I want to push the team forward and make it very difficult for Mercedes. Hopefully we can beat them. It would be very nice if we can give Honda the world title in their last season," said a driven and ambitious Perez, who also lets his fighter mentality shine through when asked about his favourite circuit.
"I was very happy to drive in Imola. It's a historic place and offers a lot of spectacle. But I would like to see Long Beach on the calendar. It's a street circuit where they race in IndyCar. It is quite bumpy and narrow. It's a real street circuit and I'm a street fighter, so I like street racing."
