Perez explains goals: "That's how I can repay Christian, Mateschitz and Helmut"

Sergio Perez has finally made his dream transfer after ten seasons in Formula 1. The Mexican moves from Racing Point to Red Bull Racing, where he will be Max Verstappen's teammate. The Red Bull family is still unknown territory for Perez, but he already knew a thing or two about the Red Bull team. In The Talking Bull podcast, Perez explained that Christian Horner passed him by earlier in his career.
In the years before Perez drove F1, Horner and Perez were already friends. "I already knew Christian then. My first season in GP2 was with him at Arden. I didn't spend much time with him then. He did invite me to his house. It's bizarre to think that now we are working together again. He's great to work with and he's a good team leader. I can already see that we are going to have a good time together."
Unique opportunity for Perez
Perez explained that he did not expect to ever drive for a top team like Red Bull.
"I've always found it a fantastic brand. I already had a small chance at a top team with McLaren, but it didn't work out then. I spent a lot of time with Aston Martin, as it's called now, and that really felt like a family. Now that I'm driving with Red Bull, it's really a 'wow' moment again. I still have a lot of people to get to know, but it's also an opportunity I've been given because of the hard work I've done over the last 15 years."
"I will grab that opportunity with both hands. You only get this kind of opportunity once in a lifetime. I am sure we are going to have a successful season. That's how I can repay Christian, Mateschitz and Helmut," Perez concluded.
