Lammers expects it to be tough for Mick Schumacher at first as he prepares for F1

In a preview of the upcoming racing season Jan Lammers has given his expectations of Formula 1 rookie Mick Schumacher. Lammers argued that the young Schumacher is a 'slow starter', and makes a comparison with another well-known driver and his debut in the premier class of motor sport as a basis for his argument.
Although the return of the Schumacher name to Formula 1 is highly anticipated, Lammers tempers expectations of a flying start for the 21-year-old German. Mick is a "slow starter who gets into it gradually," Lammers said in an interview with Motorsport.com.
The debut of Mick Schumacher will be a counterpart of that of Jos Verstappen, compared Lammers: "From Jos Verstappen for example, we knew that in his third or fourth lap he was already there. That was someone who came in with a bang and immediately performed very explosively."
"With Mick it's different", Lammers continued. "In the end, he can definitely do something, otherwise you don't win championships in Formula 3 and Formula 2, but we can't expect him to impress right from the start."
Not an optimal team
Lammers also expects a slow start for Schumacher because he is driving for a team in midfield, a place where he cannot immediately gain all the necessary knowledge.
"It's also difficult, when you still have so much to learn in Formula 1, and you are with a team that can teach you so little, that is always difficult."
