Don't expect miracles from Ferrari in 2021: 'That takes time'

Ferrari hopes to return to the top in 2021, after falling way back in 2020 when the engine had to be scrapped. However, René Arnoux warns against optimism, as Ferrari will not return that quickly.
Leadership at Ferrari
Ferrari were still in contention for victories in 2019 and also managed to secure pole several times after the summer break, but things went completely wrong in 2020. The engine had to be reversed and so Mattia Binotto and his men could start again from scratch. Arnoux says the fans will have to be patient.
''To be successful in Formula 1 you need the right people in the right places. All parts of the team need to work well together. You can have the right stuff, but if the people within the factory are not working in the same direction, then it's just not going to work,'' the former Ferrari driver told Italian Autosprint.
Ferrari needs time
''Enzo Ferrari and Jean Todt knew exactly how to get it done at Ferrari. Todt didn't know how to design a car, but he knew exactly how to build a team. He brought the right people to the team, and gave them everything they needed to get results.''
The Frenchman therefore asks for patience from the Tifosi. ''Every change takes time. Therefore, I don't think Ferrari can work miracles already in 2021. They will not suddenly start winning races again now,'' Arnoux concludes.
