Sebastian Vettel will drive for Aston Martin in 2021 and so he has a new environment. The partnership with Ferrari did not work out according to Nico Rosberg and so it is good that Vettel has made this step.

Vettel arrived at Ferrari in 2015 as the great savior. After four world titles with Red Bull Racing, he had to do what Fernando Alonso had failed to do: Become World Champion with Ferrari. Like Alonso, however, he was unable to do this and was even pushed out by his new teammate in 2019 and 2020.

Vettel the hero again

Ahead of 2020, Vettel was told that his services were no longer in demand for 2021 and that the team would be replacing him with Carlos Sainz. A blow for Vettel, who first had to decide for himself if he still wanted to continue in F1. He would eventually do so, and with Aston Martin.

"Sebastian needed a change, because he was in a negative spiral at Ferrari and that was not a nice experience at the end," Rosberg said of his compatriot to Augsburger-allgemeine.de.

"I am happy for him that he will again be the hero who is celebrated. With a success he can just be the same again. He is still one of the best."
