He drove Formula 1 for many years, was the crown prince for a while, but a terrible rally accident in which he shattered his arm brought an end to his world championship ambitions. Robert Kubica drove another year with Williams in 2019 and will now drive in the European Le Mans series.
The Pole left Formula 1 permanently two years ago in search of something else. Last year he started as a reserve driver for Alfa Romeo and drove during the test days in December. He will fulfil that role again this year. Furthermore, the sympathetic pole drove races in the DTM with a podium finish in Zolder as a highlight. For this year Kubica was still looking for a seat and he has found it.
WRT team
Kubica has found a place for next year. He will be driving for the WRT team in the European Le Mans series. He'll be making the switch to endurance racing. The Pole is looking forward to it: "The WRT team is a new chapter in my sporting career for me and it's also a new challenge for me. We're going to discover a lot of new things together and we're going to do it in a category that's very solid and competitive, full of talented rivals," Kubica told the W-racingteam website
