Tost reacts for the first time: "I don't care if Hamilton knows me or not"

During the press conference prior to the Bahrain Grand Prix last year, Lewis Hamilton was asked for his opinion on a salary cap for drivers. The Mercedes driver was confronted with a statement from Franz Tost and then indicated that he did not know the AlphaTauri team boss. It was a remarkable scene, but Tost can laugh about it.
The 65-year-old Austrian had said a week earlier: "Drivers should not earn more than 10 million euros a year. They should be happy with the fact that they can drive these cars."
At the press conference, however, Hamilton is dead serious in his response when he asks, "Who said that?"
Tost asked for reaction
"I had to laugh. I don't care if Lewis knows me or not. I am interested that there is now a commission that discusses the salary cap of drivers," the AlphaTauri chief said in interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
During last week's meeting with the teams, engine suppliers, Liberty Media and the FOM the plans for a salary cap were indeed discussed. In the coming months they will try to find out if the ideas are feasible and on which term this should happen.
