Perez: 'Will be emotional for drivers if there is audience again'

With just a few weeks to go, we are nearly at the start of a new Formula 1 season. Last year, the coronavirus also had its grip on Formula 1. It seems the same will be true for part of this year. Sergio Perez hopes to see crowds at the races again soon.
Perez likes the presence of the public at the races. They are an extra element, he told Speedweek.com. "I'm looking forward to seeing Grands Prix again with fans in the stands. We have seen how important they are for the atmosphere at a circuit. It will also be a very emotional moment for us drivers to experience packed grandstands again."

Perez is most looking forward to the race in his homeland Mexico: "I'm really looking forward to my home race in Mexico. Mexicans are very enthusiastic and I can't wait to drive a car capable of winning in front of my own crowd. We hope to close the gap to the top, give Mercedes a run for their money and win races."
Perez has not yet been truly successful in Mexico, with only two P7 finishes to his name.
