Hülkenberg confirms talks with Mercedes and Aston Martin

Nico Hülkenberg has no seat in the upcoming Formula 1 season. The driver seems to be in talks with both Aston Martin and Mercedes for a seat as a replacement driver. It is therefore possible that the German driver will still be in action next season.
Hülkenberg spoke to Motorsport-total.com and confirmed that talks are taking place. The German could be called into action if a Mercedes driver or an Aston Martin driver drops out. The talks are well under way according to Hülkenberg and could just lead to a double role.
"That is in the making. We are not quite there yet, but we are on our way. And I think it will work out. The talks are already on the right track."
Dual role Hülkenberg would not cause conflict
As a result, Hülkenberg would basically have a dual racing stable for which he competes. However, it would not lead to any conflicts, as Aston Martin is a Mercedes customer team. He could therefore drive for either team in the event of any problems. Hülkenberg is currently also on Aston Martin's reserve list, where he has already been a substitute driver on a couple of occasions last year. He replaced Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll. Whether he will replace Bottas and Hamilton next season remains to be seen.
"At the end of the day nobody knows. We know from last year how fast it can happen and that you just have to be ready in case. And that's how I go into it. If it happens, it happens. "
Besides Formula 1, he will also act as a TV expert on ServusTV's Formula 1 broadcasts. Despite this, he will not be leaving racing behind in the coming years.
