Daniel Ricciardo, the man who will defend McLaren 's Constructors' Bronze alongside Lando Norris this season, hinted in an interview that he believes the American team is the right place for him to win his coveted world title.
"“I've obviously done a bit of moving around the last few years", Ricciardo begins in an interview on the Formula One YouTube channel. The driver represented Renault and Red Bull before his move to McLaren. "It’s not something I want to continue to do or plan on doing. It’s stressful, it’s actually hard work."
Title ambitions
Ricciardo has found the right environment and the right company in his current team for chasing the title, which he explains: "so far what I've seen and what I’ve really liked is the mindset of the team and the way McLaren has grown and shown their presence on the grid, particularly in the last few years has been really impressive."
"Looking from the outside, and now being on the inside, I can see how it all adds up, so I definitely feel like once we get a sniff, I’ve got the right group around me to take the most advantage of it and we’ll take every opportunity”, Ricciardo said.
The Australian continued: "I do really feel like the team’s already laid out a very nice foundation, and if I can build on what I already see that they’ve got and personally achieve my goals here, then I think we can fight for a world title. Hopefully, already as soon as next year."
