Perez blows the whistle on Red Bull Racing: "I blew it"

Perhaps the biggest loser during the Grand Prix at the circuit of Imola is Sergio Perez. After a great qualifying session on Saturday, he could not convert his second place on the grid into a good result. In fact, he didn't even score any points and that is mainly due to himself.
He admitted this frankly in an interview with Ziggo Sport afterwards. "There's not much to say about today. I messed up. I'm very disappointed in myself and very sorry for the team," said a dejected Perez.
Two big and costly mistakes by Perez
Perez was already making mistakes behind the safety car. He lost places with a trip and decided in his eagerness to get back behind the safety car. This is not allowed and so he got ten seconds time penalty.
After the red flag, there was still every chance to get back to the top of the field like Lewis Hamilton. A second slide through the gravel trap prevented that. "We could have been on the podium for sure, otherwise I have nothing to report", the Mexican concluded.
