Valtteri Bottas kettled off hard during the Grand Prix at the Imola circuit over a week ago. He was torpedoed by George Russell and went hard into the wall on both sides. Normally that is no reason for joy, but from 2021 onwards it might have even bigger consequences.

All that damage costs money, money that can't be spent on the development of the car because of the budget ceiling. On top of that, you always have to take into account that a new engine has to be installed after such a blow, something which of course has a limit for some time now.

Bottas can still use first engine

In that respect Motorsport.com with good news from the Mercedes factory. The mechanics there have taken apart the entire power source (with which Bottas crashed) and put it back together again so that it can be used again for the Portuguese GP.

The chassis that Bottas crashed into the wall with in Imola has been written off. He won't feel the consequences of this right now, but as said it might have financial consequences for the rest of the season.
