- GPblog.com
Red Bull has struck an important blow with the arrival of Ben Hodgkinson. Not only did they get a strong technical director for the engine project, but he was also snatched away from big rival Mercedes.
Red Bull are busy building their new engine plant in Milton Keynes, where their own engine will be made from 2022 and the new 2025 engine will also be designed. The man in charge of all that was presented this week, and that is Ben Hodgkinson who has been employed by Mercedes for the last 20 years.
Red Bull hunts for talent
''It's a big day for Red Bull that they managed to bring him in. It's a clear sign that he's going to be missed by Mercedes, as the German media at Auto, Motor und Sport said he'll probably not be allowed to start until the end of 2022. That's how long his 'gardening leave' is. That's how important he is,'" said Will Buxton in his latest video.
Red Bull is looking for even more people, and so according to Buxton there is fear among other teams. ''There is a fear now that Red Bull is going to raid all the engine departments to bring in the biggest talents. It's a big show of power now that Red Bull are taking their own destiny in their hands for the future'', concludes the Formula1.com presenter.
