Despite Red Bull Racing's strong form this season, not everyone is convinced of the Milton Keynes-based team's leading role this year. Former racing driver Tiago Monteiro is still putting his money on seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton for the Portuguese Grand Prix.

"The favourite is still Hamilton," Monteiro's predicts in conversation with the Portuguese Record. The British racer currently leads the driver's classification by just one point. This is because he managed to set the fastest lap of the race during the Imola GP.

Despite this, Monteiro is also enjoying the Red Bull, and the fight that has erupted between the two teams. "I am enjoying watching Red Bull approach and fight Mercedes", he said.

Catch-up battle

"McLaren too", continued the former driver for Jordan and Midland. "There are several teams that are getting closer." In addition to McLaren, AlphaTauri and Ferrari also seem to be well on their way towards the front row of the grid, and thus the battle in the midfield will be exciting again this year.
