In this way Abiteboul remains involved with Renault/Alpine as an advisor

Cyril Abiteboul had to leave after the end of the last Formula 1 season as team boss at Renault. The team is now known as Alpine and is led by Luca de Meo. Nevertheless, Abiteboul remains involved with the Formula 1 project of the French, as became clear after the Portuguese Grand Prix.
Abiteboul was associated with Renault for several years, but his contract was not renewed at the end of 2020. In the meantime, Abiteboul has become an advisor to Mecachrome. This French organization is closely involved with the production and development of the Renault engines which Alpine uses.
Abiteboul will not only be working on the Formula 1 project, but he will also share his insights and experiences with other racing classes for which Mecachrome contributes to building power units.
Mecachrome's CEO is delighted to have been able to contract the 43-year-old Frenchman. "We are proud that Cyril can provide its support and expertise to the teams of the group in this activity which, since 1983, has supported prestigious brands in the largest categories of motorsport, F1, F2, F3, endurance, rally," said Christian Cornille.
'Relief' for Ricciardo
The announcement is also good news for Daniel Ricciardo. The McLaren driver now knows where to find Abiteboul. The Australian's former team boss has yet to get a tattoo because of last season's podium finish, but until now Abiteboul had been 'lost', Ricciardo laughed in Portugal last week.
