Track limits Catalunya: Hamilton and co need to watch out in these corners
- GPblog.com
Just like the previous three races, track limits will play a role again. On the Catalunya circuit, drivers will have to be extra careful in the first corner combination, in the final chicane and in turn 15.
Around the poles
The FIA directors notes state that when a driver goes out of the track in turn 1, he has to go around two poles before he can go back on the track. The time that the driver makes at the end of the lap will not be counted.
During the race, the driver is allowed to make the mistake twice in turn 1 and 2. If it happens a third time, a report will be made to the stewards who will then come with a penalty. As was the case in Portugal, this seems to be another time penalty of five seconds.
Not one, but two times lost
At the very end of the lap, drivers need to be extra alert. In turn 13, 14 and 15 there are also track limits. When the driver does not pass this combination correctly, his time will be taken away. Also the time he puts on the next lap will not count, because the driver can take extra speed on the straight after missing the corners.
