Hamilton: 'The first lap was the best'

Lewis Hamilton showed again in Barcelona that Mercedes is one of the fastest cars this weekend. The British driver stayed ahead of Max Verstappen and will start at the front on Sunday afternoon.
Hamilton was very satisfied with his lap times after qualifying. "Q3 was very good," the driver responded immediately after qualifying. "We were strong all weekend and I had a bit of anxiety about the potential changes we were going to make for qualifying. We are always trying to make the car better but it's a bit of a gamble because you also have to keep the race in mind also."
The seven-time world champion has consistently finished first in Barcelona for the past four years. However, Hamilton maintains that he knows he doesn't achieve his achievements alone, but that he has a whole team behind him. "The support I have is very important to me. I'm very grateful to them for their work."
"As soon as I got out I thought this was immediately the wrong one and it was my call at the end. That is why I was behind at the start of qualifying. The first lap was the best lap I could get in qualifying. I can't believe I am at 100," Hamilton added.
