Hamilton: "I can’t even begin to describe how this feels"
Lewis Hamilton has secured his 100th pole position in Formula 1 and the British driver took to social media to express his thoughts on the achievement. Hamilton is already comfortably the record-holder for the number of pole positions in F1, with only milestones left to meet.
A unique achievement
Over the last two seasons, Hamilton has been rewriting the record books. So much so, that virtually only milestone numbers remain targets for the man who is attempting to become the first driver with eight world titles to his name. In perhaps what is going to be his most challenging season in recent memory, Hamilton continues to reach these milestone numbers.
Hamilton achieved his first pole position in the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix in just his sixth weekend in F1. Through his 15 seasons in the sport, Hamilton has gone on to get pole position every year. Performing the feat on 30 different circuits around the world. Hamilton has four of the last five pole positions in Spain.
In fact, Hamilton isn't far behind 100 race wins in Formula 1. The seven-time world champion broke Michael Schumacher's record in 2020. He is currently on 97 Grands Prix victories.
Hamilton reacted: "100 POLES! I can’t even begin to describe how this feels. I can’t thank the team and everyone back at the factory enough for everything they’ve done to help us secure this incredible milestone. I feel so humbled and very grateful. This feels like my first win all over again."
