Red Bull to stay in Barcelona for Pirelli's 18-inch tyre test
- GPblog.com
Ahead of the 2021 Formula 1 season, Pirelli announced that teams will be testing the new tyres with 18-inch rims during the season. Roughly every month, test days are scheduled for different teams, all of whom will get a total of three test days. Tuesday and Wednesday will be Red Bull Racing's turn.
Verstappen and Perez to test new Pirelli tyres
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have to stay in Barcelona for a while. On Tuesday May 11th and Wednesday May 12th Red Bull Racing will test the new Pirelli tyres. Alpine and Alfa Romeo will also stay for a while; Alfa Romeo will test both days, Alpine only on Tuesday.
Alpine has driven with the new tyres before, as have Ferrari and Mercedes. Mercedes will get another chance to test in two weeks time, but then with the new Pirelli rain tyres. A remarkable detail is that so far only Ferrari, Mercedes and Alpine have scheduled a test day with the rain tyres. Furthermore there are no test days planned for Williams.
Pirelli has confirmed the 2022 18 inch tyre testing programme, with 28 days in total over the course of this season. #F1 pic.twitter.com/5gdKCbX9s7
