Seidl: 'Then you need two drivers who can score a lot of points'.

According to Andreas Seidl, McLaren will get a big boost from the confidence Daniel Ricciardo gets in the car. The Australian hasn't started the season too well and is now 17 points behind teammate Lando Norris in the standings.
Ricciardo not quite comfortable yet
Ricciardo didn't get off to a great start at his new team in 2021. But after a reasonably successful weekend in Spain in which he qualified seventh and finished sixth he says he is having a small breakthrough with the MCL35M. Seidl was happy to see his new driver comfortable in the car.
"For sure one reason why we wanted to get Daniel on board was because he obviously has a lot of experience and he knows what he needs as a driver from the car in order to go fast," Seidl said as quoted by Motorsport.com.
Once Ricciardo is fully comfortable, Seidl expects the car to be able to move forward quickly.
Battle among the constructors
"As a team boss what I need is simply two drivers that are pushing each other, that are pushing the other cars on track. Because if you want to stay in this fight in the constructors' championship, you need to have always two cars being there, with two drivers being always in position to score good points," Seidl continued.
Seidl admitted that the team and Ricciardo are not yet at the level of where they want to be. "But as I said many times I'm 100 percent convinced it's just a matter of more races and then we will see performance as we are used to from Daniel."
