Hakkinen: Hamilton can't be compared to other F1 greats: "Times are changing"

Lewis Hamilton, with seven world titles, is one of the best drivers of all time in Formula 1, but according to Mika Hakkinen it is not easy to choose the best. The Finn also looks ahead to the championship battle between Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
Hamilton the best ever?
With seven world titles under his belt, Hamilton is at the top of Formula 1 together with Michael Schumacher. Only those two drivers managed to conquer so many world titles, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are the best drivers. According to Mika Hakkinen, it's very difficult to compare those times.
"In Formula 1 you always have a time of the year or year where there is a star who performs very well and gets great results. And then comes the next one. So to compare these two different times it is difficult to judge because time is changing. What I can say is that Hamilton has used the time he has had in Formula 1 very well," says Hakkinen in a video of Sky Sports.
Verstappen goes for the crown
Meanwhile, Hamilton is nearing the end of his career and there are youngsters out there who would love to take Lewis' crown. Max Verstappen is the closest at the moment, but Hakkinen is also looking to Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc for the future of Formula One.
"It's very close. You have Lewis, Verstappen and also Valtteri is there. It is still very early in the season. So many things can happen. Verstappen is getting more and more experienced and also Leclerc is a fantastic driver. You have a mix of drivers, so you don't know yet but it's going to be really exciting," concludes the two-time world champion.
