Daniel Ricciardo was lapped by his teammate at the Monaco Grand Prix. Lando Norris held out a hand as a thank you, although some saw it as a humiliating signal. According to the Brit, this was not the case.

As a driver it is of course very painful when you are overtaken by your team mate. It happened to Ricciardo on Sunday during the GP of Monaco. The Australian neatly stepped aside for his younger teammate, and Norris thanked his colleague with a friendly hand gesture. Some, however, saw more in it.

Norris thanks Ricciardo

Online a discussion broke out about the hand gesture of Norris. Was this a thank you, or was this actually a humiliating gesture to his teammate. "Absolute nonsense. I always raise my hand if someone lets me pass with blue flags,'' the McLaren driver said according to Formule1.co.uk.

''I really did it to everyone. Mazepin, Schumacher, Danny. Whoever I overtake because they pull out in front of me. I raise my hand and say thank you. So don't just notice when I pass Ricciardo and don't think I'm doing anything wrong'', says Norris who is devastated by all the negative attention there was for this moment.
